Ford is on the way of unveiling its new sport hatchback 2016 Ford Focus RS model that is to be released to the global market. This will be different from its former two generation models which were not sold in the U.S market. With its release into the global market, Ford Focus will once again brush shoulders with its competitors such as Volkswagen Golf R.
Exterior design
One glance at the 2016 Ford Focus RS and one will be utterly amazed at the craftsmanship the manufacturer put in place. It has a more muscular appearance which includes larger rear spoilers, copious ducts, big wheels and tires. To make the appearance even more impressive is a large bar on the grille that complements its aggressive exterior.
Interior design
The manufacturer upgraded its interior, giving it a more performance inspired look. The seats have been made sportier; with additional side bolstering that holds the driver firmly when going through corners and bumpy roads. A thick rim has been put on the steering wheel with a blend of Alcantara trim and colored stitching. This layout resembles that of a regular Ford Focus with improved equipment. Before the vehicle goes on sale, the company plans to make relevant changes to its infotainment system. Some of the changes might include Apple CarPlay, which would be a great design strategy.
Sport hatchback Engine performance
When it comes to the powertrain, 2016 Ford Focus RS will be powered by a 2.3l 4 cylinder Ecoboost engine, mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox. The same engine is used in the 2015 Mustang and gives off 315hp @6,500-rpm and a 320 lb-ft torque. It is yet to be confirmed what the delivery will be for the Focus RS, though it wouldn’t be less than the Mustang’s. Considering the performance of this engine in other automotives having a close relation to the Focus RS, then it is safe to make an assumption that the Focus RS will have better fuel efficiency rates. An upgraded all-wheel-drive system is part of the improvements made on the Ford Focus RS 2016. This new drive system delivers high output as it utilizes torque vectoring for both front and rear. With this system, the Focus RS will have a different drive system than the Escape, MKZ and Fusion.
2016 Ford Focus RS Price and release date
Given that Focus ST is priced above $25,000, then 2016 Ford Focus RS, sport hatchback will most likely go for more than $25,000 and less than $30,000. We don’t expect to see this new model until mid this year, considering its previous generations debuted late in their model years.
